Reiki & Pregnancy/Childbirth

Hello, friends! I have been asked by my local doula group (of which I am a member) to give a short presentation on Reiki and the benefits of Reiki during labor/birth. I've only had one client request my Reiki services so far, and then I have my own experience with Reiki during the birth of my second daughter.

I would love to have a bit more information on this before my presentation in February. I realize this is all anecdotal information, although if you happen to be aware of any research in this area, I would be most grateful.

Thank you for sharing! I would be glad to post info from my presentation when it's ready.

Many Blessings,
Ahavah

Re: related, but slightly different topic
Panella, I'm sorry to hear about your friend. While personally I do believe that there are way too many unnecessary cesareans these days (I'm planning some posts on this topic later, when I get time & more thorough research), there are many valid reasons why a cesarean birth may have been necessary.

I know that women often have difficult recoveries from this major surgery. I would suggest that you offer her Reiki if she's interested & you don't feel that it would drag up too many emotional issues. Most definitely, please direct her to <a href="http://www.ican-online.org/>ICAN</a>, the International Cesarean Awareness Network. They have both regional and online communities for support and education. ICAN is one of the best resources out there regarding cesarean births, and I cannot stress enough the benefit of checking them out. Although she may not be ready to deal with t at this time, please encourage her to seek some support there. Also, if she is having nutritional and health problems, urge her to continue seeing her care practitioner regularly. She could also look into finding a post-partum doula, who can help immensely as a family recovers from a cesarean birth. DONA.ORG is my particular affiliation, although there are several certifying organizations for pp doulas. Some will work at a sliding scale fee for mothers in need. Best of luck to your friend! Many Blessings, Ahavah PS: if I haven't already, I'm heading over to friend you.
