I'm afraid I might be disqualified for going over the time limit. :( I hope not, but it's doubtful that I would have won in any of the categories, anyway. It took me 30 minutes to get an idea from the trigger, which only left me an hour writing room.
A recap: Flash Challenges happen every weekend at LH. Members get a 'trigger', a word or phrase to prompt a flash story (usually between 500-1500 words). Stories are posted anonymously on Monday and critiqued through the week. People vote for 'best of' in different categories, like dialogue, characterization, story arc, etc. The best of each group goes against each other on Wednesday, with the winner providing the next week's trigger. It's tons of fun, and there are some awesome writers who give great critiques.
There are also short story challenges, quarterly challenges, and a submissions club.
If it's something you're interested in doing every now and again, check it out and sign up. It's actively moderated, so tell them you're a friend of Ahavah.
Here's hoping I wasn't DQ'd! (I like to win. LOL)
