Blogging as Ritual Cleansing

* Feel free to skip this post if you like. I am just sloughing the muck of this morning’s headlines and internet highlights.

The headline this morning: NBC News: Airing Cho video ‘good journalism’

For once I’m not linking to it, because I refuse to add to the sensationalism. I’ve refrained from commenting simply because everyone feels they need to comment on it, and 90% of them are only fanning the flames.

Though I’m a proud proponent of the World Peace Experiment, I still keep myself informed. I’ll read the headlines, and when a trauma like this occurs, I pray for the victims and their families and I offer healing to the situation for anyone who could benefit from it. As the WPE urges, I try to stay away from adding to the negative frenzy often stirred up by the media. When I read something negative, I consciously send out “Only love prevails” and work to keep the collective consciousness pure and spiritually informed.

Some people scoff at the thought that love, or positive energy, could make a difference. I believe it can. What happens when people grow up in a world where this kind of behavior is sensationalized, and thousands react from places of anger and hurt. You could argue that it’s justifiable, and I don’t doubt it, but hurt and anger only beget hurt and anger. People get stuck in this…this disgusting muck, a circus ring, and the effects of reveling in that sort of consciousness ripples out through all of humanity. It doesn’t matter what you believe, emotions and energies are some things that move us all, and we can lend to cleansing and healing reactions, or we can call for blood.

NBC is like an idiot child dumping blood into a frenzied shark tank, using the guise of ‘education’ to be asinine and, quite simply, dangerous. What happened to the days when mass murderers sent packages to the media, and they quietly turned it over to police and graciously helped in the investigation? Running the names of the victims as the main story, I can understand, or information for burials, fundraisers to offset the costs, scholarships set up – both for the college, and for local victims of mental disorders to receive the help they need. Not, for the love of God, making all of it worth it for him. When I read that he killed two people, went and mailed his press release, and went back for the rest of the killings, that was the LAST thing I read. That was all I needed to know. I’ll continue to give him my energies of love and healing, but those are the only energies anybody’s getting out of me. He’s dead, it’s past, let’s help the living.

Only love prevails. That’s what I want to contribute to this massive flow of contributions. I don’t want to argue a bit, I just needed to get that out there.

tru2myart did a moving and loving post here that’s a shining example of spiritually informed response.

interactiveleaf also did an excellent post here, which opened with a very enlightening quote:

There were two "Reigns of Terror," if we would but remember it and consider it; the one wrought murder in hot passion, the other in heartless cold blood; the one lasted mere months, the other had lasted a thousand years; the one inflicted death upon ten thousand persons, the other upon a hundred millions; but our shudders are all for the "horrors" of the minor Terror, the momentary Terror, so to speak; whereas, what is the horror of swift death by the axe, compared with lifelong death from hunger, cold, insult, cruelty, and heart-break? What is swift death by lightning compared with death by slow fire at the stake? A city cemetery could contain the coffins filled by that brief Terror which we have all been so diligently taught to shiver at and mourn over; but all France could hardly contain the coffins filled by that older and real Terror -- that unspeakably bitter and awful Terror which none of us has been taught to see in its vastness or pity as it deserves.

Mark Twain, A Connecticut Yankee in King Arthur's Court

Alec Baldwin

I can’t decide whether I’m glad or sad that this scandal is getting attention. It definitely strikes a chord with me and has me ‘Only Love Prevails’-ing like a mantra. You see, my father did a very similar thing to me once, only it wasn’t a voicemail, and it was on my sweet 16th birthday.

Alec needs to get off the blaming Kim Basinger for constantly ‘attacking’ him as a parent, because I’d bet anyone that his daughter Ireland is the one who gave it over to TMZ.com. Anyone else want to open a pool on how soon we’ll see her in her first film role?

Brangelina, TomKat, etc.

Can we please stop melding couples names together? Ok, it was cute five years ago when Kevin Smith coined ‘Bennifer’ (the first version). If you want to know what really happened, I think Kevin Smith is a closet Earth’s Children fan and I completely blame it all on Jean Auel and her stupid freaking Jonayla, which beat Bennifer 1.0 by at least four months. Take that, Kevin Smith – you’re outted for what you’ve unleashed on us!

It’s stupid! Just stop!

Um, I mean Only Love Prevails… *smootch* *hug* I love you. Ok, now please stop saying that, internet.

Were you dissing "Kthxbye!" too??? I couldn't tell lol

By writing about these issues, saying how much they are in the news, well... you already know.

p.s. I stole one of your James T Kirk icons. *grins*

Ugh, yep. I'm just SO tired of seeing it. It makes my eyes bleed now.

Just sloughing, baby, but I figured I could meld it with love vibes and hopefully contribute something worthwhile.

It's a fantastic icon! I didn't make it, but I'm glad it's getting around. :)

Now I'm worried that I may have caught people on kthnxbye days, but I was venting over here from overload on a community on my other one, so it wasn't intended at anyone personally.

Re: hrm
*snicker* I wouldn't worry about it too hard. ILY ya big goof!

Complete agreement with you on the Ireland thing. It was my initial thought, and i'm sticking by it.

The couples name thing is annoying, in the least. Possibly even more so to me cause i am not a fan of celebrity anything...so trying to cute-ify all of it just drives me batty. Besides, why is the guy always listed first?

Apr. 25th, 2007 02:48 pm (UTC)
Hell yeah she did it. Or if Kim did it, it was because Ireland told her too. If I'd had a recording of my dad and the power to stick it back in his ass, I would have done it. *blush*

I think because AngeBrad sounds even goofier, but I think that will be the new wave if Hilary becomes president.

I think sending out positive vibes helps... and if it doesn't help, it can't hurt.

Thank you! That's an awesome attitude to have. I hope you check out that link a little further. They have some interesting ideas.

I understand your fedupness. That sending only love thing sounds amazing. I'm gonna send out love too.
Apr. 25th, 2007 07:26 pm (UTC)
Yay! I'm so glad to hear it. :D

Oh man, that's spectacular. 75,000 cool points and a pimp hat for you!

I actually like(d?) Angelina, and I think she's trying to do some good in the world. If I had that kind of money, I'd adopt a few kids, too. I do agree that she may be going a bit overboard. Once you collect a family, you eventually need to stop and nurture it before you keep growing.

one of her Pokemon GOT TO CATCH 'EM ALL...er, I mean adopted children
hahahaha. thank you, so so much.

Baldwin is just disgusting.

Angelina & Brad. Hmm. Pre-coupledom, they were my favorite actors. Since couple-dom, I don't know. I rather liked her more when she was the beholden-to-none, saving the world and curing-AIDS while removing land mines and saving the rainforest, all while looking good and having no sweat stains in her pits and perfectly blended eye shadow....

Now? I don't know. I think she'd do more good overall if she roosted, and put her head on straight, and realized that she cannot adopt everyone in the world, but damn! She could sure donate more and more to orphanages and such. Her name and her money would help out an immense amount. Even here, in the great US of A.

I think I feel about the same way as you on that.
