Le Squee!

OMG this week just keeps getting better and better!

First, I owe another mega thank you to kajmal and simplydorei! You guys are completely way too good to me. What on earth could I possibly have done to deserve such awesome (and wonderfully giving) friends? These two loves of mine sent me a wonderful birthday present - I now own Kushiel's Avatar! I had Dart (although it's actually demolished from over-reading) and Chosen. It was really bumming me that I didn't have Avatar, especially since I have like an over $100 fine at the library and I can't check out again (lost more books - found them months later, I'm just keeping them this time *sigh*).

So thank you SO much! *muah* You guys need to quit spoiling me. Seriously, you're both way too good to me! I feel like I owe you a pony or something. Maybe my your first born. ;)

Do you know what this means? Do you? I own the whole series thus far! And to make everything just super-squeetastic today, I just got an email from Amazon that says:

We are pleased to report that the following item will ship
sooner than expected:

Jacqueline Carey (Author) "Kushiel's Justice" [Hardcover]
Estimated arrival date: 06/02/2007 - 06/05/2007

Next week! OMG, I think I died a little. Now I need to toss aside those silly EC books and quickly catch up on some Kushiel.

(By the way, I think my EC post yesterday intimidated the people who aren't fans. I think the post stands alone whether you've read it or not - I hope - and it's really more about me than the books. Although the comments may contain spoilers, so watch out.)

AND, as if that just weren't enough, I also got a notice from the P.O. telling me that my birthday package from lessthan90sheep has arrived. I'm so excited! After a week or two of teasing, I'm finally going to unravel the mystery. Only Josh has the car and probably won't make it to the PO before they close, so I may have to wait a day or two to pick it up. *twitch* I can do it.

Thank you, everyone!

*Looks at the last of Mammoth Hunters, then Plains of Passage, Shelters of Stone, Kushiel's Dart, Kushiel's Chosen, shiny new Avatar, & Scion* Can I finish all of you in a week or two? What? No? Is that a challenge? Hm, we'll see if I can tear myself away from this computer...

Hee hee hee

It's like birthday and Christmas rolled into one!

I'm rereading the Kushiel's series myself so that I can finally get Scion - didn't know there was ANOTHER one coming out too though. w00t!

Well, it's a new trilogy, actually. The Kushiel's Legacy series includes Dart, Chosen, and Avatar. I'm not sure if the new series has a different name, but I know it's supposed to include Scion, Justice, and a third book.

I preordered Justice long ago. If you go to Jacqueline Carey's website, you should be able to read the first two chapters. READ SCION FIRST, though. REALLY.

Re: YAY!
Yay indeed! I'm excited.

I also wish I had messenger. I keep trying to sign into Windows messenger but it won't let me. I'm going to attempt to download msn or trillian again.

Well, I thought you'd see my return post here yesterday. I had trouble getting into my email - took like 10 hours - and I've also posted several times in the Clan. I knew you'd find them all when you woke up. :P

LOL I know! I keep trying to get into msn, but the damn pages don't want to load. I'm still trying to catch up on everything, so good thoughts are definitely appreciated.

Grr, lj ate my response.

Well, definitely read Clan of the Cavebear first if you're interested in the Earth's Children series. You really need to read them in order.

I'm also a big fan of Orson Scott Card, and I'm always eager to suggest anything of his. He writes across so many genres, though, that what I'd recommend depends on what you're most interested in (sci-fi, fantasy, alternate history, religious fiction, etc.) He's most famous for Ender's Game, and you should definitely read that if you never have. I also really enjoy his religious fiction, especially Stone Tablets (a Moses novel) and his Women of Genesis series. And I also really liked his Alvin Maker series, which is an awesome alternate history saga that begins with the novel Seventh Son. Mmm...and Hart's Hope...that's the book the started my OSC love, and I've been looking for that one again for years. It was fantasy, and very good.

I also just found my Stephen King/Peter Straus novel The Talisman. That's another one that I haven't read since high school, but I remember I loved it a lot. I'm looking forward to rereading that again soon.

Hee! Just wanted to comment because your post reminds me of when I got the entire Sweet Valley Twins series for Christmas when I was a kid. You're totally going to line them all up in order and fondle the bindings, aren't you? :-D
May. 30th, 2007 05:10 pm (UTC)
I remember those books! I was more a Sweet Valley High girl, though. And Babysitter's Club. Man, was I all over those!

tee hee hee ... fondle. I might, now that you mention it. Fondling may be hard since my Kushiel's Dart book is so tore up that I don't think it has a binding anymore. :D

Ooh, BSB was my addiction too. Dawn was my favorite.

It's so bittersweet to wear out books, isn't it?

It sure is! I just switched to Plains of Passage and almost cried when I realized half the map in the front was missing and my pages 1-4 are all loose and being tossed around. I'd feel bad, only I think they'd be pleased with a life so well lived. I used to be embarrassed about the dilapidated state of some of my favorites, until I read a Stephen King article where he said basically yeah, he loves it when people buy his new books and ask him to sign them, but even more than that, he loves being brought a dog-eared tome with the binding practically falling apart from so much loving reading. :D

I know! I've been gone, but I still didn't hear anything about an early release. I'm so excited!

hee hee hee

Then again, maybe it's just me since I needed a change of luck...

Wow, you are already starting to fill up my friends page again. Thank you! I had hardly anything to read while you were offline.

Very nice bday presents. They know you well. :)
May. 30th, 2007 11:43 pm (UTC)
That's awesome! I have tons of post ideas, but I had no way to type them out so it may still be slow going. I'm glad to know you're enjoying them. :D

Very nice presents indeed. I can't wait to see what Steph got me. I think it's quite funny that we've known each other all these years and only just started mailing things back and forth.
May. 30th, 2007 07:22 pm (UTC)

We'll have to have a mega-squee-fest after you've read it. Lots of folks seem to have just recently gotten Scion. Planning on buying Justice?
