Are You Still a Health Buddy?

I've been plucking away at this weight thing. Last time I gave plasma, I was informed that I lost 14 pounds since February. I just weighed myself on my mom's scale, which claims I am 145. This is less than the plasma center scale, but I like this version better.

Back in the day when I could post and comment all the time, I acquired a list of helpers and mutual cheerleaders. Sadly, it's been - what? - over a year since I started my (sadly spotty) health buddies posts. Are you guys still working towards your goals? Have you met or changed them?

I'd like to know who's willing to continue the encouragement and tip sharing? My weight loss is slowing, since we've been on the broker end of the spectrum and I haven't been eating as well as I should. I've also been planning to start waking up early to walk Achaiah, since we both got out of shape after having kids. I just haven't been able to get myself motivated enough to wake up so damn early. I've also really been wanting to fast (since getting pregnant& nursing prevented me for years!), but I've realized that I've gained quite an addiction to coffee. I'm weaning myself so that I get less headaches (and meanness) when I abstain. When I finally crack that, I'll start with small fasts again.

I feel your pain on the coffee front. I decided firmly last night to break the habit once and for all, since with it comes tons and tons of artificial sweeteners, too, so I asked my angels to help me break the habit. Today I'm detoxing with green juice and water and clementines.

You can do it!!

Congrats on your weight loss. Maybe you can walk puppy in the afternoons or at nights instead of in the mornings? I find it easier to exercise when I pick a time when I'm normally energetic, instead of trying to force my body to conform to what my mind is protesting against.

Thank you so much! I need to detox, too. What is green juice? I picked up some green tea at the store. Is it similar?

I have problems walking her later on because our schedules are so wonky. Sometimes we don't get home until very late, and then it's fix dinner, put the kids to bed, and maybe a shower before I follow. I know it likely won't get done unless I get up and do it first thing, but I'm working my motivation up for it...

I'd be interested! My weekly DDR sessions seem to have vanished, so I could really use other motivation.

Thank you so much! I'll be glad to add you to the list. I'm still just getting back into my f-list, so could you tell me what DDR is? *blush* What are your goals? I mostly want to eat & drink better and get walking, which will hopefully whittle me back down to 135.

I've heard good things about Curves. I might have to try it out some day.

I still have clothes squirreled away, including some crazy wicked bell-bottoms I haven't been able to slide into since I was a sophomore. I looked so hot when I did, though, that I can't help but keep hoping. (Hard to believe now, but I once thought my legs were one of my best assets...)

So do you want to be included in my wonderful little encouragement circle? Sounds like you're doing fine on your own, lucky thing. :)

Cool, thank you! I have to admit, I didn't have you on my f-list but that is remedied now. I've been off-and-on lately. You should be able to see a lot more now, as I use f-lock liberally. Let me know if you want on any particular filters and you'll see even more. :D

congrats on the increasing svelteness!

I'd join but my goals are all short term for now. Getting out of bed each day, eating food, not having to take too many meds...etc.

I'm getting closer to a balance point where I can work out regularly (walking) and hopefully get back to my yoga after a while.

With you. I lost a stone this month. By walking and cycling just a little more and cutting out beer drastically... also really sugary food and coke-like substances. Stupid small things like one spoon of sugar in my coffee instead of two.

I'm sporadic at best but I enjoy reading. :) I have been meaning to wake early as well, and do one of my health DVDs since moving but I still don't have enough of a living room to do any of them in. Urgh.

I try to console myself with the fact that running up and down the stairs putting box after box into my storage bin is exercise.
