State of Ahavah

Hello, friends! I hope there are still some friends hiding in here. I read the ol' f-list whenever I can, but I haven't really done well with my promise to help revive LJ, have I? Well, I am now! In the next few weeks, I'm going to update & clean this journal up. I think I need a new style, streamline my tags, and finally admit defeat and release those friends who are obviously never returning. I've poked people several times, but no matter how much I loved them seven or eight years ago, we are completely different people now. Time to tighten up again and make some new friends who are surely out there somewhere.

With that in mind, please direct me to your favorite active communities! Also, I finally broke down and made a dreamwidth account, so if you're one of the migrated who is never coming back to livejournal and yet you still want to remain friends, please add me over there.

Here's a quick round up of my year:

  • I just won NaNoWriMo. I am redoing and hopefully finishing the current (and initial concept) book for my NaNo WonderSaga (magic on a spaceship book). There is an agent and an editor who both expressed interest, so I hope to finish it and submit it by my birthday in April.

  • Since I am currently on a roll with daily writing time, I have created a new schedule and plan to stick with it for real this year. I've found a pretty local writing group that I'm going to check out this week, and I may have found a good online encouragement group as well. I'm really excited about that! I would also like to keep running sprints in my Write Now! chatzy room, so if you're interested in participating, please let me know! Usually I post sprint times on FB, but the participation over there has slowed, so I'm looking open to making a set schedule or doing a yahoo or LJ group to connect.

  • I've had dreads for 8 months now! I put pics up on facebook if anyone isn't connected there and is interested, but I plan to do a big 1 year post here in April.

  • I was laid off in September, but Josh's back is finally well enough for him to go back to work. He can't do the same manual labor work he used to do (construction, landscaping, etc.), but he's got a job at a store here locally, so I'm glad to be staying home with the kids again. I'm working on my writing, homeschooling, farm, and general Mission 101 stuff again. I'll do an update for that at the end of the year, too.

  • I've finally broken my weight loss plateau and lost another 25 pounds – and hopefully still going! I also was able to get off my blood pressure and thyroid medicines. I've done this with the help of the Whole30 elimination diet, and it's really done wonders for my health! I've gone kind of very-loosely-paleo since then, and I'm really enjoying healthier cooking. I'm also trying to slowly get back to a real exercise routine after being cleared for more than just walking. I'd really like to resurrect my fitfriends community, if anyone's interested.

I have some other post ideas in the works, and I'm going to try to make a habit of posting weekly. I really want to log & get accountability for my writing and health goals. I'm trying to stay on track with Mission 101. Things got pretty bad this year, but I've kind of hermitted and just worked on myself and my family, and it's starting to get all okay again. I need to keep focused and stay on track.

I have a love hate relationship with LJ at the moment. I can't let go because I love what it was. But hate it now :-(.
Their stupid phone app sucks for example and won't let me log in.
I don't wanna be anonymous dang it.

Well I'm glad to know you're still around! I hate it a bit too, but mainly just because everyone's left. I'm the same about loving what it was. Hang in there with me!

I'm still here but post much more infrequently than ever. I still try to read LJ at least once a week.

Great job on losing weight. If you decide to start posting your meal plans like you used to, I'd love it.

Congrats on your writing too. I know it's your dream to be published and it looks like you are heading there. Yay!

Thanks so much! It's good to know that some folks are still sticking with LJ. I'm also really glad to know that you liked my meal plans! I didn't think anyone did and mealplanning kind of died out, so I just didn't bother. Now that I'm staying home, I need to resume meal planning! I've been fiddling with a Whole30 prep list. I'll be sure to share when I get back on track.
