And...

Happy Easter, Everyone!

We had a good time. I made one and a half icons. The one I'm using here is the one I got finished. Slowly but surely, I'm learning.

Eden got pretty excited about the Easter bunny, who kindly brought more gifts than candy. She did bust into the chocolate a bit quickly and we had to put it up out of reach. I forgot, however, that Ivy's basket had a couple candies in it. As soon as our backs were turned, Eden had snagged it up. Sneaky.

Ivy fell off the bed today. She fell asleep in our bed, so I surrounded her with pillows. I heard her cooing when she woke up and started down the hall to get her. I saw it happen. It's such an awful feeling to watch your child fall head first and justknow you're not going to catch her in time.

I didn't.

She landed flat on her head, but she must have hit something or bit her lip on the way down. I picked her up and she was just drooling blood all over. I totally freaked. She's ok - resilient little thing. I wrapped up an icepack in a washcloth and let her suck on it for a while. It must have helped, because half of her poor lip was swollen really badly, but it went down a lot. It still breaks my heart. Especially when she smiles all lopsided. Any and all prayers and Reiki are welcome.

Today was the last day visiting with Uncle Ron & Aunt Linda, who came to visit from Illinois. Boy, the babies just took to them. It was so good to see them again. Ron is my uncle who won his cancer battle, and I haven't seen him since we learned he was sick. He looks good, but he only has a partial lung and Eden tired him out considerably. He said that's why he came, though. They're leaving early in the AM, and I'll miss them terribly. I'm so glad they came to see the baby, though.

So that's my weekend. Sorry if I haven't commented enough, but we've stayed busy all weekend. Happy Easter!

Oh God!!! I watched my son go through a day like that once, it is a terrible feeling. I'm glad she's ok.

Me, too! I was so afraid we'd have to go to the hospital, as much blood as was coming out of her poor mouth. But she just needed some love and then she was fine. I'm so relieved!

poor baby! (and mommy!) This sounds dumb, but my grandam swears by a spoonful of sugar water to stop a mouth bleed. Its what I use, it works, and it takes the kids minds off the hurt for a bit :) Im not a big sugar person, but it does work :) Glad you had a good easter, its always good to see relatives :)

Thank you! Yes, it's always good to see family. And I have to admit that I've been missing Uncle Ron something awful. His cancer scare really affected me, and I'm so glad he was able to make it back down to see us. It was good.

I've never heard of sugar water. I'll remember that last time. I'm sure she would have perked up over it! LOL I just washed the blood all out, and then she wanted to suck on a rag, so I wrapped it around an ice pack. Oh man, you should have seen how much her lip was swollen. It went down A WHOLE LOT. I was so scared. Blah. Thanks for the tip!

When I was nine, I caught my baby brother falling off the bed, halfway to the floor. I felt SO PROUD of myself. :)

I'm so glad Ivy wasn't more hurt!

Nice! I've woken up in the middle of the night several times finding myself catching hold of her foot as she's on her way down! I just didn't make it there fast enough. The crib was thrown out - Eden didn't even use it - because the side broke, but Ivy sleeps in a bassinet. She just nurses so much at night that she always ends up in our bed. I need to do something about that.

Thanks for stopping by my journal! What brought you this way, if i may ask? I'm not sure if I know you, but your name looks familiar.

We're both members of the jatraqueros community - I read the members page of that in addition to my own friends page. I don't know who you are at hatrack, though, if you are there.

Awesome! You know, jatraqueros isn't showing up on my friends page. I kind of forgot about that comm. I'll need to go fix that.

I was Ahavah at Hatrack, but I really only hung out at the Hatrack 1830s RPG. I haven't been there in a long time. I may need to check in and see how that's going.

So THAT's why I couldn't figure out who you were! I'm Lissande, but mostly on the BFFAC and occasionally OSC side. Nice to meet you!

Well I've fixed the community. so now it should be on my f-page. Silly me, I just thought it was a dead community! LOL

It's nice to meet you, too! Feel free to drop in any time.

Hi Ahavah!

I'm so sorry to hear about little Ivy. I'm not a mother or anything but I babysat my cousin for a month when I was 13. She was only 6 months old and not very good at sitting up. When I turned around for one second to grab something she fell right off the couch onto the floor head first. I just remember thinking "I killed her". We both cried for about an hour and a half until my aunt came home at which time I was royally mad because what was supposed to be an hour-long trip to the grocery store turned out to be a 3 hour long romp around town. AND to top it off she just laughed at what had happened.

I will definately pray for Ivy. She is such a cutie in all of the photos you have of her. Happy Easter.

Thanks, she is a cutie! She's getting to be such a chunky monkey now. I need to put new pics up soon.

That wasn't cool of your aunt. Was that your first time babysitting? And then to laugh... Blah. Very concerned mother. Any six month old falling head first shouldn't be laughed off. I remember when I was little, probably about 9 or 10, and I dropped my sister. I thought I'd killed her then, too. It was so scary, and I felt so bad! I felt even worse for not telling anyone, but she was ok and I didn't want to get in trouble. *blush*

Haha. I didn't want to get blamed and I hated seeing her in pain not being able to do anything. It was my first time babysitting and I was pretty traumatized after that LOL.

Oh, that's just not fair! My sis was about that age when I let her start babysitting Eden - but the first time, I was gone maybe 30 minutes to the store AND I waited until my mom was home to supervise.

I'm sure you did fine. :)
