Oh well.

Thanks to everyone who offered support in This Post. I've spent several fun days down here in FL with my good friend (who I am so excited to have met!). Unfortunately, the baby is playing coy and went back to irregular surges as soon as I got here. So it looks like I'll be heading back home to NC tomorrow morning if nothing changes. Hold me in your dear hearts for a safe trip! (Florida drivers are nuts!) Of course, I'm hoping that something changes. ;) The baby seems to have dropped today, so you never know...

Well, first because my babies are in NC, and I've been gone several days now. Secondly, and probably most importantly, it's a bit of a strain on the family-to-be. The plan had been, if there's no baby by the weekend, I head home and they call me back when I'm needed. I keep hoping there will be a significant change before I get too far down the road, cause you're right, I'd hate to make the trip twice (especially since I have to borrow my mom's car to make it at all).

And oh my gosh, it's crazy how much they both grew in five days!

Just so you know, I'm totally willing to make the drive twice! ;) I actually made some kick-ass time. I would have called you, but mom was gone with her phone. I even drove slower, and I made it in 9 hours without stopping to use the phone or eat all those times. I think I could make it in 8 if I had to hurry. :P

i'm keeping my fingers crossed that the munchkin will pop up before you head home...and i'm also keeping good thoughts for Ivy, as i'm sure she's not liking this one bit! :D

One thing i've noticed that on average, people who live in mountainous areas drive closer to the center line as opposed to Florida drivers who hug the outside of the lane. It was explained to me once that it was all because people from the mountains try to avoid the edges of the road and any cliff associated with it, whereas in Florida (and other flat land areas) head on collisions are more frequent because of the 'mirage affect' that heat causes on flat roads...so people try to stay as far from center as possible. Of course, this isn't scientific or definitive, but i always thought it was interesting.

As one who learned to drive in Florida, i wish you a safe and sane drive home.

You're right. Although, Josh often yells at me because he thinks I hug the outside line. I think I'm more afraid of hitting all the big-damn-cars everyone drives anymore. I have learned one cool bit of trivia - in FL, it's apparently ok to turn left-on-red. ;) Thanks for the well wishes!

Happy thoughts sweetie...

That old "when the apple is ripe" thang really does hold true doesn't it? When is her due date?
Jul. 24th, 2006 01:20 pm (UTC)
Well, her EDD isn't until August 16. But apparently her family always goes 4-2 weeks early, so I took her seriously when she said "Contractions are 30 minutes apart. You need to come down now." Apparently the baby is just a trickster. I do believe she dropped yesterday, so I'm expecting it to be sooner rather than later. Hopefully sooner sooner...lol.

Well here are happy thoughts for a happy and safe delivery with Doula present :O)..

best wishes on the baby coming soon!

And watch out for those crazy Fla drivers! What part are you in again? :)

Thank you so much!

I am in Lake Mary right now. I had a friend near Orlando that I was trying to meet up with, but I can't get ahold of him. It makes me sad. :( Maybe if I end up coming down twice...How far are you from Lake Mary? I think it's near Sandford or something similar.

Well I've gone and wrenched my knee yesterday so I am not back to driving yet. I'm about 4-5 hours from Orlando.

It just seems like you've invested a lot of time and driving to get there, hang in if you can! :)

Jul. 25th, 2006 02:28 pm (UTC)
I wish. Nope, back home now. Hopefully I'll make it when the big event does happen.

4-5 hours on which end of Orlando? I'm coming from the north, so if I get to go back, maybe I can meet with you on the way home.

What happened to your knee? I have about 600 posts to catch up on, although I'm sure I'll find out. I had put you on my healing list before I left. I'll just keep you on for a while longer if you want. I see you healthy and feeling fabulous!

No dear.... Miami. Way South of Orlando. I have reiki weekend this week and graduation on the 31st and I'm closing on a house refi... Besides wrenching my knee, I've got a pretty full plate at the moment. :)

Thanks for the healing! I plan to get full table reiki again tomorrow and hopefully I won't be using the immobilizer or a cane at the graduation ceremony! Upside is - Reiki and meditation (MAP-ing) has been KEY in helping me heal fast!

My mom and I were just talking about you on the phone earlier today. :) I said, "I haven't checked on her in awhile - I wonder if she's back on the road for that birth again!" :) I'm thinking about all of y'all and sending prayers for a safe, happy birth.
Jul. 26th, 2006 12:12 am (UTC)
Aw, you were talking about me? :) Thank you for the thoughts and prayers. I'm really hoping I can be there for the birth. We've just got settled in back home. I have a lot of catching up to do!

Hi! Thanks for dropping by my journal! I've added you back, so now you should be able to see the f-locked posts (which are many and threaten to take over the blog...lol) Always nice to meet someone slightly local. :D
